I’m a writer and educator who has spent the last two decades in classrooms of one sort or another: primary school, high school, undergraduate and post graduate. Along the way I picked up a Diploma in Education, an MA and a PhD. I also love books and collect as many as I can.
A few years ago I lost a collection of rare and expensive books when my home was flooded and it saddened me very much. I think the idea for Latha’s Library was formed then, although it took concrete shape much later in the summer of 2018.
Named for my mother Latha who loved literature and history, Latha’s Library is a space for children and adults to discuss the books we love. Our blog enables teachers and librarians to exchange tips for language and literature classrooms and ideas for making libraries more inviting and exciting spaces. It’s also a forum for parents to discuss how to encourage children to read widely and wisely. A core aim of Latha’s Library is to share books with schools and communities who don’t have ready access to them.
Children and adults can support Latha’s Library by donating books, volunteering to read aloud at one of our libraries or writing for our blog. We are currently located in Bangalore (Bengaluru) but are open to setting up libraries in other parts of India.
Do join this exciting adventure.
